The San Miguel Chamber of Commerce was established in September, 2011, by concerned community members of the town who were interested in how they could effectively aid local businesses while also benefitting the rest of the community of San Miguel. The first meetings were focused on learning the specific desires of the community members. The top areas of interest that came out of these meetings were the beautification of the community, a desire for more recognition of this unincorporated area by the County, and more job development. With the assistance of the San Miguel Resource Connection, an organizing body was formed to create the Chamber’s bylaws and standardize its board meetings.

The San Miguel Chamber of Commerce sponsors annual events to bring the residents of the community together and to attract others to visit our small town. We are a key sponsor of the San Miguel Sagebrush Days Parade and Peddlers Faire, the Christmas Lights Parade and Crafts Faire, the Toys for Tots Car and Bike Show, and the San Miguel Memorial Weekend Cruise Night and Car Show, along with other community events. With economics in mind, we held a Business Forum in San Miguel in February, 2016. As a response to a request from SLO County we took on responsibility for the maintenance of the sidewalk gardens and benches along Mission Street, as well as the Discover San Miguel Gateway signs along the highway at the north and south ends of town. Outside of our community, we have been a participant in the annual 4 North County Chamber Mixer, which we hosted this year. We also occasionally sponsor our own community mixers. Finally, as one of several community organizations and institutions, we take pride in the fact that we have a close and respectful relationship with other local entities such as the San Miguel Resource Connection, the San Miguel Lions Club, The Native Sons and Daughters of the Golden West, Mission San Miguel, Rios-Caledonia Adobe, and Lillian Larsen School.
